This is for people who say they have lost data..

I thought I lost my data once on my SimpleTech HD, but then I found a solution and got ALL of my files back & I have been using mine for 2 yrs now.
Try this: click on start menu...click on Run... ( a small window/box should open)...Type: command.... a dos window will open, you will see: c:\DOCUME~1\OWNER>..
Type: chkdsk (location of hd):/f (note: after chkdsk you will type the drive letter where your HD is located.. for example: chkdsk k:/f...K being the location of the HD). Be sure to type it like this: chkdsk k:/f .... then enter ...Then type exit to close window when done. This worked for me. I found this solution on the geek squad site. Good luck!

I needed to get an external HD since I was running out of space on my current laptop. The deal was pretty good. Although, I could have gotten a TB but I didn't think I needed that much space. Maybe later on I will pick up a TB when they are more on sale. No issues with this. Very simple out of the box and plug it in then transfer your files. Exactly what I was looking for. Some people complain about it taking a power supply, but seriously it doesn't take that much effort to find a power outlet for it. Very pleased with this product.

My SimpleTech SimpleDrive 500MB USB drive broke after 8 months of use. I filled out the RMA request form online and submitted it. I faxed my original receipt to the service department adn waited for a RMA email. Then nothing. No response. I emailed, faxed and waited endlessly on the phone to their customer no service which never picked up. They never responded to my warrantee return request. Don't buy this brand. It is SimpleBad.
