Mostly great. The volume issue seems to me to be that your ear has to be at a very specific position to hear well. Great to have standard AAA rechargable batteries! The only annoyance is that when we answer with our other Uniden phone, the Panasonic counts it as a missed call.

It was easy to set up although one handset took much longer to charge fully than the other two. We keep the handsets on their chargers, and our longest call so far has been about one hour, so we cannot comment on battery life. Handset voice quality is good, as is the speakerphone. When we use two headsets for conference calls we do not hear the echo we have experienced with other cordless phones. We don't use the answering machine but the phone works well with our provider's voice mail. We are very satisfied.

Before I started writing this review, I read a lot of the one-star reviews and most of them just are not true or are one-off problems.
These phones make both of my last two systems (Uniden, Philips) look like children's toys in comparison. Particularly the Philips system. It was total trash.

Anyway, the Panasonic holds its charge, unlike the Philips phones which were constantly running out of power. The Caller-ID is very readable, even by my legally blind wife.
I didn't really want the answering system but it does work well enough and is accessible remotely as well as by any phone on the system. You can listen to messages, record new responses, delete or store them from any phone on the system. I never go near the base unit yet have no problem maintaining the answering system.
The phones all work at long distances from their base, with one downstairs in the basement family room so it works well through the floor.
All can be used as speakerphones and the speakers are loud enough so everyone in the room can hear the conversation. It has a number of different ringers and my wife has the Christmas song right now. The intercom feature works better than most stand alone intercoms do. The Uniden didn't even have this capability and the Philips did, but the poor recharging made its intercom ability almost useless.
The ability to transfer phonebook register single numbers or the whole phonebook between phones makes it easy for each phone to have all of the entries on it as well as individual numbers for each person's phone as well. It has plenty of capacity, far more than the Uniden units did.

The menus are very easy to access with the central tilt button. It is easy to set up without having to read the manual for most items.
It doesn't have the colorful wallpaper that the Philips has but who cares? I have too many wallpapers on my PC and cell phones, so why do I need them on my telephone as well?

Zero static even standing in front of an operating microwave, or using it three feet away from my PC which has at least a dozen wireless features operating at any time including a DLINK Media Center Extender.
Neither of my other two wireless phone systems comes close to that kind of performance.

I have yet to have a single person complain about my voice cutting out while talking to them, unlike some of those who gave this system one star.

The ONLY reason it didn't get 5 stars is that the charging cradles of the additional phones can't be mounted on a wall and with the fairly short power lines they tend to fall off of the end tables they are sitting on because they are very light in weight. The other two systems had wall mountable chargers, which is the only thing I miss about them. Plus, though the base unit is wall mountable, it does stick out pretty far from the wall, causing the kitchen (where the main telephone jack plate is located) cabinet door not to be able to open fully. A slight irritation, but noting like the irritations of the other two systems I have had.
SO if you want wireless phones that are clear sounding, work at great distances from the base even in a multi-story home and are not prone to static from all of the electronic devices found in homes and offices today then this is the system for you.
All Panasonic needs to do to make it a 5 star system is make the chargers wall mountable.
