I've had this shredder about a month already and although I don't have any other brand to compare it with (since this is my first); I'm very pleased with it. My favorite thing about this is the child safety mechanism that turns off the blades when fingers get too close. Naturally having young children in the house gives me reason to be concerned about lost fingers.

I have worked this shredder pretty hard, but not to the point of over-heating it and I have not put credit cards through it. I know the product manual says these shredders will do staples (I let one slip through accidentally) and credit cards, but I am a bit phoebic about dulling the blades so I try not to let any of those get in there. This is the best junk mail disposal system I've ever had. Just oil the blades once or twice during the time it takes to fill a basket with shreds, and I'm sure you'll be as happy with this product as I am. I have not managed to jam it yet, but I have not tried to fit 8 pages into it. It gets kinda sluggish sounding when I try to feed it 5 so I figure that's enough. The shred pieces are about 1/32 by 2 inches in size. They work great for lining my daughters guinea pig cage.

I would have rated this shredder a 5 except that it is kinda noisy, and it's not as "attractive" as many of the others. In addition to that, it can be a bit inconvenient to have to turn it off and remove the shredder unit in order to empty the basket, and you cannot see when it gets full. If you don't care about looks, and just want something that will do the job, this will likely work for you. It is a great purchase for the price.

In terms of size, I didn't realize how large the shredder was until I received it. It's the size of an 8 gallon garbage can. I was used to a smaller shredder. As for performance, I liked that the shredder was quiet. It struggles to shred the maximum number of pages. Like the others, I'd recommend shredding just a few sheets at a time. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and hope to see this one last at least a few years.

The shredder arrived is a sealed carton but appeared to be used. It was probably someone elses return as it was defective. I purchased the same model from Tigerlandirect because I had a gift certificate. It cost a little more but it does work great. Amazon refunded my money no problem but their merchandise needs to be checked over carefully. They will try and slip one past you.

Great shredder, very powerful and seems to be made very well. my only complaint is, it is a little messy when you want to empty the waste bin.
