I bought this product for my brother's 21st birthday, and now every time I see him he has the thing stuck in his mouth like a wandering cowboy! The sound is great, and the fact that the parts are replaceable make a long lasting instrument. I highly recommend it.

My first real challenge when getting this in the mail earlier today was getting the darn case open. I tried it, my wife tried it and I would have asked my 9 year old grandson to try opening it but he was out of town. I finally managed to get lucky and get it open. Hey, this thing is a lot of fun. I am almost ready to go on tour. Well, maybe I will give it another few days. Bottom line, it really does sound great and I do think I can be playing some fine music before too long. I will get one for my son and grandson for Christmas so maybe we can all play together one day. I don't know a good harmonica from a bad one, however, this one does sound fine to me. My wife even commented on it's sound quality. I doubt she was referring to my skill level but it was nice to hear. The case is hard to open but maybe it's just because it's new. Minor point for such a fine sounding instrument.

I own mostly Lee Oscar Harmonicas because that is what my local music store carries. Lee Oscars are great harmonicas. They do have a sweet sound to them and their reeds do last a very long time. They are more expensive than other brands. I do like Lee Oscars but I also like the cheaper Hohner Big River Harmonica.
The Hohner Big River Harmonica is the BEST sounding harmonica your money can buy. Big Rivers are much cheaper than the Lee Oscars. You can buy two Big River harmonicas for the price of one Lee Oscar harmonica. I tested a Lee Oscar and a Hohner Big River Harmonica with a harmonica blower at Elderly's Music and both sounded great and sounded very similar. I couldn't tell the difference between them. Both Lee Oscar and Hohner Big River harmonicas use replaceable reed plates which save you money.
Lee Oscars are the cadillac of harmonicas, in other words the best harmonicas you can buy. Don't get me wrong, I like Lee Oscar Harmonicas and they are great sounding harmonicas but they are also the most expensive harmonicas on the market. They are the best harmonica you can buy but I wish that they were cheaper.

If you've been playing harp for decades and have tried them all, Hohner, Suzuki, Huang, Koch, etc., then you KNOW how good Lee Oskar's are. Plain and simply the most durable, best sounding harp made. No tinny, thin sounds, no poor construction, these are by far the best of all and LO's are the workhorse instruments of ALL contemporary harp players. Get with it people and the reviewers who diss these harps are just bad, poor players.

Certainly, I have many Hohner harps (Blues Harp, Special 20), and they're fine and dandy, but the four, five Lee Oskars I have are just golden. The tight sound, combined with the light weight, gives these well-machined little monsters an airy, gentle, inviting feel. The lovely li'l object even gives the chord info for both harp positions! Winner!
