I love this stuff. In my opinion, it's better than any liquid foundation by far, and it's also the best of the mineral-based foundations (and I have tried a *lot* of them)!
I started using BareMinerals when I was in my mid-30s, and now I'm 41.
I initially tried it out because liquid foundation was just not doing it for me. As far as the liquids, I'd tried everything from Cover Girl to Chanel to Clinique (Clinique was the best of the bunch). They all behaved the same. They were all right at first, and then it took no time at all for me to sweat them off (I live in North Carolina, where it's humid and warm-to-sweltering-hot most of the year). And they didn't cover very well. And they streaked and caked. And it was very difficult to find the right shade.
I was enchanted with Bare Minerals. You cannot feel it, and if you get the right color and apply it properly, you cannot see it. People see YOU, not your makeup. It honestly improves the look of your skin instantly. I get compliments on my skin *all* the time.
Even when I get sweaty, the Bare Minerals stays on and looks as fine as ever when I get back into the air conditioning! :)
As many others have already said, if you want to get the real benefit of any makeup, you have to clean your skin well and apply the makeup properly. Here's my regimen, if you are interested. First, I exfolidate, tone, and moisturize. Then, I use the BareMinerals foundation and cap it off with the Mineral Veil. The Mineral Veil is the trick to the staying power, I think. Sometimes it needs to be reapplied a time or two during the day, during the hottest summer months. Without the Mineral Veil, the foundation powder doesn't stay set nearly as long. I sometimes use the BareMinerals blushes and eyeshadows. Their lipgloss stick is terrific. It lasts forever, and it smells like vanilla. I got the one that comes with the "Goddess" kit, and it's amazing. I also got their regular lipstick, in "Yumi." This stuff lasts all day, especially if you apply, blot, apply powder, and then apply another layer of the lipstick.
Here are other mineral foundation products I've tried: L'Oreal's mineral foundation -- it's pretty good, but the flakes are bigger than BareMinerals, and it doesn't last nearly as well (if you do half your face with the L'Oreal and half your face with the BareMinerals and look in a magnified, lighted mirror, you will see what I mean). I've run out of BareMinerals a time or two and gotten the L'Oreal from the drugstore. PurMinerals looked fabulous, fabulous -- but it smells like a sheep (from the lanolin, I guess), and it made my face break out horribly (from the lanolin, again, I guess). I could never find a Physician's Formula shade that matched my skin well enough. Sheer Cover worked pretty well, and lasted well, but it made my face break out. I never tried the Ulta mineral foundation, because even the ladies working at Ulta said it wasn't good.
But BareMinerals has been *very* good, for me, anyhow. I hope it will be for you. :)

After loyally using Bare Minerals for 3 years, I finally had to throw it all in the garbage. When I first started using this product, my skin was combination normal/oily with a tendancy to break out. I thought this product was easy to use and gave beautiful coverage. But as time went by, my skin became more and more dry. Over the last few months, what began as dryness had become a chronic red, scaly, and flakey condition. My skin is always peeling. Since I still did not realize that my beloved BareMinerals was to blame, I would just load on the moisturizer and pile on the makeup to cover it. My skin has since started to break out in itchy red bumps that ooze when scratched.
I went on like this for a couple of months until finally realizing that the whole mess was caused by the BareMinerals. After switching to a tinted moisturizer for only a couple of days, my skin stated to look and feel better.
It has been a month since I last used BareMinerals, and my skin is still not completely balanced. I still have dry and flaky patches on my cheeks, but they are starting to improve.
I have given BareMinerals two stars because of how much I loved this product before it started to ruin my skin.
Bottom line: If you have oily or normal skin, you can probably get away with using this product for awhile, but DRY SKIN HATES BARE MINERALS.

This is the best makeup I have ever used. It covers imperfections well and feels as though you have nothing on your face.

The ID Bare Minerals Make-Up is fantastic. You get great coverage with a total natural look. I find if I'm to lazy to take it off at night it doesn't bother my face with breakouts

I simply love Bare Escentuals foundation its amazing and constantly get compliments on my skin, I feel its not that awesome to get as many compliments as I do. I'm actually a former Bare Escentuals employee and still use all their face products.
