I've been using Bare Minerals for about 2 weeks now, and I LOVE the mineral veil. I do have very light skin, so I can't speak for reviews in which there are claims that it "makes skin look lighter." However, as someone who struggled with patchy skin througout my life (and cystic acne when I was a teen), I can say that I am sold on this product for life. I have large pores, and BE covers them really well without clogging them. The mineral veil is definitely the "finishing product" for the BE line. However, if I do have one recommendation it is this:

Get a Demo!!! Or at the very least, watch the video!!! This make-up should not be coming off on your shirt (I would have noticed that, it has never happened to me. You need VERY little of it to do the trick. Also, there is no reason that the small amount that you put on should ever "cake," as some of the reviewers are claiming. I have friends who have used way too much of this product initially because they were skeptical about how little it actually takes. I was, too, until I went to a BE store and had my colors matched and my makeup done.

Nothing but great things to say about this product. It is great for balancing skin and can be re-applied (minimally!) throughout the day (although I have never seen the need for that, it stays in place well).

BE Mineral Veil is a great product. It's nearly invisible and never leaves a cakey build-up. Layer on as much as you want and you'll still look natural. It's very light and airy - much different than other finishing powders.

I cannot say enough about Bare Minerals products. I have been using them for a year and prior to that everything made my skin irritated. Mineral Veil is so light that I can apply it several times a day and it looks like I have nothing on my skin. I also use the foundation, etc. The entire product line is outstanding. I do not break out anymore and my skin looks amazing everyday. You look like you are wearing NO make up and best of all you don't feel like you are wearing any.

I had purchased the mineral veil in hopes of reducing the "shininess" of the bare minerals foundation. (I also wrote a review on that). Additionally I thought it would also help absorb oil and reduce the look of pores.
This product does none of that. It doesn't keep your skin matte for more than a few hours and, even worse, it produces a whitish cast on your face. Do not be fooled, it is not "invisible".
And like others have mentioned, the brushes that come with these products are of poor quality and the makeup, in general, is messy. (I actually used to place kleenexes over my makeup counter before I used the products).
I would not recommend this product to anyone because of the whitish color but also because there are better products out there for the money.
If you have oilier/combination skin, I would recommend a mattifying pressed powder and apply with a sponge or powder puff, applying the powder in a pressing motion. Then use a brush to gently blend.
If you have drier/more mature skin, try applying a loose powder with a fluffy brush.

I have oily skin, so I use this when I am ready to leave the house. It gives a nice matte look that holds til late afternoon. I re-apply around 2:00. I use it in the T-Zone area. I have tried other products that claim to do the same thing, and wasted my money. And I can tell you I have tried a lot of them, from the high priced to the cheap ones.
