Works perfectly...but batteries may be dieing after 2 years.
They just don't hold as much of a charge anymore. No big deal since I have 2 batteries.
TIP: Just buy a spool of extra wire from a Home Improvement store and you can manually re-spool it yourself instead of buying pre-wound discs.
Saves you good cash over the seasons.

I live in one of those communities that have common grounds which are kept up by a service; as a result, I only have to tend the grounds in and around my house. I used to have to lug a power cord out to do it. With this device, though, I can charge it up overnight and then bounce outside for perhaps 3 minutes of effort at the most. You have not experienced convenience until you've had the luxury of no gas and pullcord startup or long troublesome power cord, just a battery powered tool. It is definitely not for large estates, but for simple short jobs, it is perfect.

I don't have a large yard and didn't want to mess with a gas powered unit or extention cords. This is perfect. I can do all the trim and edge work with battery time to spare. I usually have to switch batteries after 1-1/2 to 2 uses. It's not too heavy or hard to use.

History: I bought this two seasons ago because my gas-powered one was too undependable and hard to start. Before that I had a corded-trimmer, but the cord was too difficult to manuver.

Setting: I have a small front yard and a moderate-sized (for Colorado) back yard. I have raised edges, fencelines and tree bases that my mower won't reach.

Uses: First of all, this thing is for grass or small weeds. It's named a "Grasshog" for a reason. It isn't a bushhog or brushhog. I use it after I mow to clean up along edging on flowerbeds, sidewalks and landscaping. I use both the trimmer and edger function and it works extremely well. I keep it in my shed and get it out after mowing. I do the back and front yards, sometimes cleaning up weeds along the street or in rocks between mine and my neighbor's yard. I then put it away. Since I only mow about once a week, one battery will usually last for 2-3 jobs, which is about 30minutes total.

If you have a yard you need to clean up, edge and you want convenience and something dependable, this is the tool for you.

This was a pleasant surprise when I first got it. A battery powered trimmer that actually had some zip to it. It certainly won't go through heavy brush, but it is good for basic lawn maintenance. A full charged battery lasts a long time. Just in case it is not enough they give you an extra one. If you have any of the other many Black N Decker 18 Volt cordless products, these batteries work in all of them. I haven't had any problems with the trimmer so far. Certainly my old gas powered on was more powerful, but with the gas and oil and the maintenance required, this cordless version is a pleasure to use. This is a terrific product if you are just edging and trimming your lawn.
